Winter is a special time for me. For many it signifies hibernation, slowing down and rest. While I practice a bit of that, to ensure balance and sanity, the reality is different- I tend to ramp up in winter.
As someone born in early January, I feel the energy of renewal as 2015 comes to a close. There are many holidays to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus and New Year for the world to celebrate, I?ve got one more holiday to add: my birthday is January 8!
There are many exercises I partake in to complete this cycle. I like to spend time reflecting on what I?ve accomplished, how I?ve done so and how I?ve grown in the past few months.
This year, to showcase my evolution, I decided to evolve the look of my logo and brand.
Continuing to evolve the look of my favorite creature: honeybees, I?ve created a logo that speaks to the essence of what I provide: buzz, love and affinity for my clients? brands.
Secondly, I like to make new year?s resolutions: I do best when I can focus on the goals I aim to reach. That must be the Capricorn in me; always climbing.
To visualize these goals, I like to make an annual vision board. On Monday, Dec. 7, I spent the morning with 6 ladies where we shared our ideas, visions and hopes for the coming year. What a great way to start the week!
The result is wonderful. We began this exercise conducted by Jen Julius with a clearing and meditation. In that meditative state, we ripped images from magazines that resonated with our subconscious. Later, the group grabbed images that were more logical and related specifically to our goals.
We shared our boards asking for accountability on certain goals, noticing the themes in the images and words, and noting what was in the center – this is the biggest focus for the year. The biggest themes on my board are building, growing, and curating – my relationship with my husband, with colleagues, and with my business. My center is the “word of mouth” image. I chose this as symbolism to my growing and building my client list. I seek most of my work through referrals from my colleagues.
Finally, the crystals. Jen promoted her crystals as a reminder of what we’re aiming for. Plus, having more shiny, earth objects in my house is welcome. I selected amethyst for its sedative energy that can promote peacefulness, happiness, and contentment. It also is said to bring emotional stability and inner strength.
The stone on the left- green calcite is a grounding and centering stone that brings stability. It increases success, prosperity, business, and fertility of all kinds.
Looking forward to 2016!
